Do you believe reading is fun or maybe that reading is powerful or more specifically that reading inspires people? Books have always been a foundation in my wife's life and have helped to inspire her to dream and do big things. I, unfortunately, did not share the same sentiments about books until I read 3 books that changed my life, and way of thinking.
3 Books that changed my Mindset
Have you ever heard the quote “learners are earners”? Warren Buffett multibillionaire certainly has as the richest man in the world, at the beginning of his investment career he was reading a hundred pages every single day and to date reads 600 to 1000 pages a day. That alone tells me you must read a lot to become successful. Accordingly, to my findings, Warren Buffett loves to read so much in an interview someone asked him what was the key to his success? and he said reads 500 pages every day. That's how knowledge work, it builds up like compound interest. The more books you read, the more benefits you’ll gain from books and thus, the more your mind will expand, the more ideas you’ll be able to apply directly to your life. From reading Mr. Buffett takes massive action while still learning as much as he was before.
Books can add meaning to our life
The meaning of life can be different for each of us and for some a lifelong journey. As, we are all looking for answers to find our own true meaning of life; it is a matter of taking the right steps to figure out why we were placed on this earth and what we are meant to do with our lives. I believe books can be a driver in one's life that can be beneficial to one's personal journey.
The Compound Effect
This book was my first introduction to personal development. An ex-coworker referred me to this book back when I was trying to figure out my next steps in life. She said after reading this book I will never be the same again. She was absolutely right! About 2 years ago we actually met Darren Hardy and was able to listen to him at a convention. I was able to tell him his book changed my life.
The Compound Effect is one of the best books on personal development I have ever read to date. Darren Hardy, the former publisher of SUCCESS magazine reveals the secrets that enabled him to build a successful business by age 18, to become a millionaire by age 24, and the ability to retire (“enough money to last the rest of my life”) before age 40. The simple logic in The Compound Effect is what really helped me to rethink my logic on life.
Inspiration without action is a delusion, and Hardy makes it a point to give clear lines of action you can take to start changing all areas of your life dramatically, one small step at a time.
Rich Dad Poor Dad
This book was a game changer for me and Melissa. After reading this book my mind was exposed to a whole new world. Everything in this book simply made sense as it provided confirmation on my thoughts and feelings. In Rich Dad / Poor Dad, Kiyosaki defines an asset as something that generates cash for you that means your car and personal home are not assets! For many of us, we are used to looking at our homes as assets. In fact, our homes usually drain cash! The book reminds us of the importance of building new income producing assets (e.g. dividend paying stocks, business ownership, royalties etc).
Best tip: Robert Kiyosaki recommends seeking work that gives you learning and growth opportunity, rather than a comfortable job as a great way to grow your mindset

My Philosophy for Successful Life
While reading The compound effect, there was one man Mr. Hardy would always mention, Mr. Jim Rohn, what I found out about this man would amaze you, he is a legend! One of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn, “If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much”. Since hearing the quote, life hasn’t been the same.
After listening to a couple of youtube videos and doing my own research on books by Jim Rohn I came across a powerful book called My Philosophy for Successful Life on Audible. This book discusses his success philosophy and in my opinion is an essential text to anyone interested in getting more out of life, being successful, or looking for self-improvement.
All 3 books are very important to our personal development and we highly recommend them if you are looking for self-help or self-motivation. People ask us all the time how are you able to read so many books well our secret is we don't. We actually do both, read and listen. There is a great app call blinkist where you can actually read the key points in less then 15 minutes. Our all time favorite thing to do when we are traveling is to turn our vehicle into a moving classroom by listening to audible. Another great app if you cater more to the audio version of a book best part is both apps you can try out for a free trial period.
Note: The Points mentioned here are bits of insights I've gained from the above books and I’m sure you would find much more when you read them, so go ahead and grab a copy for yourself, you'll never regret.
