The shift to a millionaire mindset

We began our journey around three years ago, yes we have a baking business since 2006 but back then it was a side hustle. We honestly never thought about making it full-time until 2 years ago. After being introduced to a book called The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy from an ex-co-worker, we highly recommend reading it! This book was a reality check. It was definitely an aha moment! But there was one man Mr. Hardy will always mention in his book, Mr. Jim Rohn. So what I did, and what I found would amaze you. This man was a legend. One of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn, “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much”. Since hearing the quote, life hasn’t been the same. You can read more about us on our about page.

When I started my research on the wealthy. One of the things that always popped up was not only having residual income but your mindset. The mindset was actually more important than money. But to continue on our journey, we eventually met a nice couple at a real estate event who introduced us to a business opportunity, We know, when you hear a business opportunity most of the time it usually means Network Marketing and yes, that is exactly what it was. We had no clue about Network Marketing and were very naive about the business model. What caught our attention was being around like-minded individuals, People who use to run multi-million dollars companies or owned their own businesses were interested in helping other and being mentors.

This is the thing, there is a little secret many people don’t realize when it comes to Network Marketing and please don’t take this as a pitch by any means, as we currently are no longer actively build a network marketing team. The opportunity is not in the money or fancy cars but the chance to get mentored by successful leaders who have the knowledge of business and success. That’s the true opportunity. The value of that is hundreds of thousands of dollars but you get to have all of that with a low entry fee, sometimes as low as $99.00.

The couple we met who introduced us to the business was directly under a multi-million dollar earner, Tishina Anderson. Not only that, they were very connected to many other leaders who were very successful. People like, Lisa Nicole Cloud, from the BRAVO reality t.v. show Married to Medicine, Thomas Felder, who was the lawyer of founder and chairman of Black Entertainment Television (BET), Mr. Bob Johnson, and helped him become the first African American billionaire by selling BET to Viacom, King Pinyin, a Certified John C. Maxwell Speaker, Coach and mentor by Tony Robbins, also Gospel leaders, Musicians, Def Jam executives and the list goes on. We were so connected they are still only a phone call away.

By having the knowledge we have today we were able to transition from Network Marketing to our cake business and other businesses we venture in. You may not know this but many entrepreneurs, online marketers, Social media experts, bloggers or e-commerce business owners have some type of connection to Network Marketing. Either they were in the business or were affiliated with someone who was doing the business. Many of their success is credited from the lessons they’ve learned.

The knowledge that was taught to us, we would like to share that with you. The 7 keys to becoming successful in any business model.

You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time

People have a huge impact on your life, King Pinyin will always say to us. Are your friends holding you back? Do they support you in the achievement of your goals? Do their life choices inspire you? If the answer to these questions is no, then it’s time to find new friends.

If you want to achieve success in life, you need to surround yourself with high vibe people that inspire and elevate you to live to your highest self. You may have heard this proverb that reads, “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.” Let go of negative friends.

You MUST have a passion for learning

What we realized and learned is our mentors never stop learning. Lifelong learning is the first step in becoming successful. In today’s fast-paced world, If you don’t love learning, you’re not standing still, you’re falling behind. Thomas Felder would always say this quote from Gandhi,

'Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.' ~ GandhiClick To Tweet

They continually expand their knowledge in order to get out in front of the pack and stay there.

Their outstanding performance remains outstanding by becoming lifelong learners.

Our mentor Tishina Anderson will always say to us, you can lose everything you’ve gained in life. Your money, job, clients, reputation, house, car and even the people you love. The only possession you will never lose is knowledge (If you keep investing in it).

Read – a lot

Reading is the backbone of an entrepreneurs’ life. The information you gain from reading helps you commit to your plan for success. Reading should be a priority if you truly value success and want to go where others haven’t.

Reading also ensures you are constantly on your feet, reading about the latest trends and failures in your industry or niche. (Here’s a list of our favorite reads, we read to keep our mind right as well to keep growing).

Goals setting

Goals is another part of their success. Goals give direction in our lives and provide a target to hit or reach. it pushes us out of our comfort zone and pushes ourselves towards achieving something we want. We were taught how to manage our goals by creating a system for managing them. First, write them out, Second, review your goals often. Here are some examples below we talk about in How to start a business while you are working full-time.

Daily goals – will be your smallest goals or to-do-list. Every evening before going to bed you should get organized by making a list of goals you intend to complete for the next day. This exercise should take no longer than 5 – 10 minutes of your time. You can use a daily planner like do it all mom planner or an online app so you can cross them off after completed. When we don’t write down our list on paper we use an app called Asana.

Weekly goals – are somewhat larger goals and usually are things that you can’t complete in a day.

Lastly, monthly goals – are your biggest goals and you want to set these for one month, three months, six months and a year. This might sound crazy to write down your goals for a year but it helps keep you accountable and on target for the year.

Goal setting will feel uncomfortable at first but with a little practice and patience, it will get much better.

“It’s not about the goal. It’s about becoming the type of person that can accomplish the goal.”

Our Mentor Lisa Nicole Cloud Will always asked us, Who is in your circle?

As Jim Rohn would put it, “you are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”

'You are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with.' ~ Jim RohnClick To Tweet

This quote is one of the most powerful ones that I keep reminding myself over and over again. I am the average of the five people I spend the most time with. Others around myself determine how I think, how I act, and ultimately how successful I will be.

To change your negative habits start with you. The ability to see past the challenge… rather than staring at it. A positive mindset is the first key to success. The power of your Subconscious Mind, The power of positive thinking, The power of positive energy, The power of positive words. Stay from words, Think I can, I hope, I will try and The power of positive self-talk.

A positive mindset is the first key to success:
  • The power of your Subconscious Mind
  • The power of positive thinking
  • The power of positive energy
  • The power of positive words (Stay from words, Think I can, I hope, I will try )
  • The power of positive self-talk
  • Beware of the dream stealers

Never allow someone making $30,000 a year, tell you why you cannot make 100,000 a year. Seek out, achievers and dreamers.

King Pinyin would tell us, “Why are some people more successful than others? Why some feel accomplished while others feel like they are stuck in a career rut? The answer is – their vocabulary. Though, granted, your vocabulary is heavily dependent on your mentality and the way you see your life, both personal and professional.”

They Find A Mentor

7 Things we learned being mentored by millionaires
King Pinyin & her mentor Tony Robbins

When you think they know everything and had already created success, the last thing that would come to your mind is they’re being mentor.

Mentors, coaches and role models can be powerful resources for helping you take action to achieve important goals.

I remember Tishina, would always talk about her mentor Les Brown. She would spend $20,000 dollars per session to help accelerate her learning process and to get to her goals much quicker. When she decided to get into finances, Tishina invested her money to get trained by the best, Dave Ramsey. Her philosophy was “these are people that have been where you are and have achieved what you want to achieve.” Mentors are a huge part of successful they success. This also could be put in the category as an investment in your education.

Go hard or go home

We would hear this often at our training. If you want to become successful you have to create successful habits of millionaires.

Watching them commit themselves to daily habits that have allowed them to build business empires and achieve massive success. A great example is Lisa Nicole Cloud, who built an empire through Fashion, Real Estate, Reality tv and etc…

By starting a business and going all in that business, they are able to achieve success in a short time frame. Scarifying a few months to a couple of years by staying focus to accomplish their goals. They don’t get distracted by the shiny objects syndrome or worry about the next man or woman, they’re only looking straight ahead, tunnel vision. The true definition of a go-getter.

Just imagine if you can adopt the same mindset and habits, you would be unstoppable.
