Winning as an entrepreneur means THINKING DIFFERENTLY.
Who is Sheena B Austin?
With the world as her oyster, Sheena B is leaving her footprints on the beaches of the world as her passport guides her passion for travel. The heart of Sheena's uniqueness began at a young age, first in the world of beauty as she mastered the art of expression through hair, clothes, and makeup while focusing her attention on becoming a coiffeur. Now with over a decade of experience in the beauty industry, she realized in recent years a transformation was taking place as her passion for beauty began to evolve into the industry of travel.
As self-expression is cultivated through one's own personal style, aesthetic and creativity. This single mom is living life on her own terms as she travels around the world, living out her purpose to serve others by helping them find a life of fun, freedom, and fulfillment through travel. Sheena hopes with each life she touches it will become a testament to her daughter, that she too can do anything her heart desires if she just reaches for it.
What made you get started in your industry?
As an entrepreneur, I've always had the desire to do and see more. Spending over 14 years in the beauty industry opened my eyes to see people differently. All that changed when I became a mom in 2008. I realized that people weren't following there desires and dreams. They were alive, but they weren't living. My career as a creative director and hairstylist was very demanding and didn't allow me to spend the time with my daughter that she deserved. 2013 I crossed over into the travel industry, with a passion to help myself and others live again.
Walk us through the step-by-step process that you went through to get to where you are today. What was the first thing you did?
When I decided to jump into the travel industry, first thing I did was step out on faith. I know that sounds crazy, but for so many of us, we're contained in this undesirable level of comfort. Next step I took is I found a mentor, someone Much more successful than me to learn from. I became a student of the industry. I sought to spend all of my down time personally developing myself and strengthening my leadership skills. I knew if I wanted something different I was going to have to do things differently.
What do you consider are your specialty?
I would have to say my specialty is having more fun, freedom, and fulfillment in my life and sharing it with others. Passing the message of belief that you can have and achieve whatever your heart desires if your willing to work for it.
Do you see yourself making this full-time?
Of course, I thank God for allowing me to explore my passions through travel but most importantly having the ability to share it with others. My goal and purpose is to be able to live full time and help others achieve the same.
What can we always expect from your company/brand?
My company represents the ability to dream again. That fuzzy feeling of doing something or experiences that you could only dream of coming true. We're bringing hope to those who have somehow lost it long ago. You expect us to deliver affordable, yet valuable ways to see the world regardless of budget.
What was the best advice you every received and why?
The best advice I've ever received was from my mentor. He said never stop working on making your dreams come true, God put you here to be great. That always stayed with me as a driving force to be successful.
What tips can you recommend that you’d would most likely only share with a close friend or comrade on success?
Believe that you can and will. You have to see your success before you obtain it.
Do you have favorite online resources such as Evernote, Dropbox or app that you use for your business?
Can you recommend one or two books that have been influential in your life?
What can we expect from you and your company/brand in the next 5 years?
The next 5 years you can expect to not only see massive growth but a complete shift in how we view travel industry. We're going to do to the travel industry what Skype did to long distance.
What do you think will be the next big change or shift in your industry?
Families and individuals both will be able to earn travel instead of paying for travel. Giving opportunities to those who never seen it possible or to those who already have a passion for seeing the world.
If a young entrepreneur walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em your best tip, what would it be?
Have vision. See where you're going before you arrive. Believe in yourself even when it seems hard and you want to give up, keep pushing forward. The prize is on the other side of the struggle. Every day I tell my daughter she's great. And she can do anything her heart desires if she just reaches for it.
