Wellness Wednesday Back to School Tips: Part II

To continue our Back to School Wellness Wednesday series, here are our top 3 back to school fitness tips and techniques to help those on the go start a healthy routine before the school year is in full swing.


First & Foremost Schedule It!


You can’t get started if it isn’t in your schedule nonetheless on your calendar. Add a workout to your agenda during a time frame that you know you can stick to. Consistency is key to getting results. Although you are on the go, exercise is an essential way to control weight, decrease stress, and improve your mood as well as sex life. Just like work makes exercise appointments at least four to six times per week, 20 to 60 minutes intervals each day at home, at the gym or outdoors. Water, Water, Water


Drinking water is one of the easiest ways to help you stay fit. While it may take some effort on your part to drink the suggested glasses, there are now convenient sure-fire ways to stay on track in order to consume the right amount of water daily to stay hydrated.


A great tip is to always carry a water bottle (here is a great water bottle on Amazon), and if you have a desk job, always keep one at your desk. If you have a bottle within arms reach, it’s very likely that you’ll mindlessly sip from it throughout the day, without having to make a conscious effort.


Since we use our phones for everything; its only right that it helps us manage and keep track of how much water we drink to meet our daily goals.

water-logged  A great app for iPhone users- Waterlogged – Anytime you drink water, you can quickly apply the amount you drank towards your daily total. The app includes two default serving sizes a 16.9 oz water bottle and a regular 8 oz glass. However, one of the cool features is that it allows you to add your own water bottle as a serving size in addition to doing the math if you only drink a portion of your water. The basic version is free


CarbodroidFor Android OS users – Carbodroid also keeps track of your drinking water intake to help you reach your daily goal. A fun feature of this app is the animated droid who motivates you to keep drinking more water and celebrates your success. You can also set an alarm to help you remember to drink more water during the day as well as entering the amount of water you drink with ease.


Include the Kiddies

There is nowhere in the rule books that say fitness has to be done at home or in a gym. A great concept is to host a family fitness night. Not only, will this help you spend time with your kids but allows you to incorporate and emphasize the importance of physical fitness and endurance thru fun and games.
